from 9am-Noon

Dive down to the deep sea and explore the layers of the ocean, animals that live there, and the technology that scientists use to explore places that most people will never see.  We will experiment with bioluminescence and color, see how and why the ocean creates different layers, and design a submersible for exploring the deep sea.

This camp is a drop off opportunity for kids 7+ years old.

Lauren Fauth

About the Instructor: Lauren Fauth joined the National Aquarium in May 2012 and currently holds the position of Manager of Education Programs, she oversees school programs both in the Aquarium building and at schools, homeschool programming, teacher professional development and summer camp programs. Lauren’s passion is to bring students into new experiences to foster a connection with the marine (or terrestrial) world. She is always looking for new ways to provide opportunities to both students and teachers to become engaged with the outdoors. Prior to coming to the National Aquarium, she worked in North Carolina at two of the North Carolina State Aquariums where she gained her love of teaching environmental science. She also works/volunteers at Nixon Park Nature Center, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and Make A Wish. When not working, Lauren can be found hanging out with her husband, daughter, and dogs (both resident and foster) most of the time exploring nature!
